“Real food for real people”
The Rivertown Cafe is owned and operated by The Person to Person Help Trust, a Kaiapoi community trust established by the Kaiapoi Baptist Church in 1988.
The vision for this cafe is to create a community space & gathering place, which provides great coffee, excellent food and exceptional customer service.
Profits will be invested back into the Kaiapoi and surrounding communities.
Community catering – We specialise in affordable catering. This can range from a plate of sandwiches to business breakfasts or lunch for a crowd. Please contact us for information.
Community art – We proudly display the art work of local artist allowing them space to display their talent for the enjoyment of the wider community. The art is rotated frequently and is available for purchase. When possible we like to showcase local schools and pupils so as a community can celebrate them.
Community notice board – Our community notice board allows community groups and organisations to highlight upcoming activities and events for the community. This is a business free zone, but is open to the community of Kaiapoi and surrounding areas to showcase groups and organisations.
Global Community – Rivertown Café is proud to partner with Freeset & Trade Aid who represent global community within the café. We find the Freeset & Trade Aid stories are not only inspirational but empowering, when in store we invite you to visit our retail market place area, view the products and when you purchase you and partnering with us to change the lives of communities and their families within the global community.
Pay it forward – Rivertown Cafes uses its tip jar to “pay it forward” this allows people to buy a coffee with loose change, the coffee is then passed on to customers having a bad day or just need a pick me up.
